American Foreign Service Association (AFSA)/AAFSW Merit Award Program
This is a one-time scholarship award American Foreign Service Association Applicants are required to sustain an adequate academic record of at least a 2.0 grade point average (GPA). The applicant must have a parent who is a member of the American Foreign Service Association (AFSA) or the Associates of the American Foreign Service Worldwide (AAFSW). The children of international student parents or people in the military are not eligible for this scholarship. The award of this scholarship is based on the artistic and academic achievements of the applicant.
Award: This scholarship is for use during freshman year, and is not renewable. Number: The number of scholarships awarded is 6 to 15. Amount: The amount of the scholarships awarded is $1,500.
Requirements for Eligibility: The applicant is required to be a student in high school, who is planning to enroll or anticipating to enroll full-time at a four-year university or college. The applicant should be single and show an interest in art. Either the applicant or a parent of the applicant is required to be a member of the American Foreign Service Association. The applicant or a parent of the applicant is required to have volunteer or employment experience in United States government foreign service. This scholarship is only accessible to citizens of the United States.
Requirements for Application: Essay composition, application, self-addressed stamped envelope, personal references, school transcript, and test scores. Deadline: February 6.
