Ron Brown Scholar Program

This program aims to recognize African-American high school seniors who will make a meaningful contribution to the society.  All applicants must demonstrate superior academic performance, display exceptional leadership potential, take part in community service activities, and exhibit financial need.  Applicants must be citizens of the United States or hold a permanent residence visa.  Applicants are required to be anticipating enrollment at a four-year college or institution.  Deadlines:  November 1 and January9.

Award: This scholarship is for use during freshman year.  This scholarship is renewable.  Number: The number of scholarships awarded is 10-20.  Amount: The amount of the scholarship awarded is $10,000 to $40,000.

Requirements for Eligibility: The applicant must be an African-American high-school student who is planning to enroll full-time at a four-year college or university and must have an interest in leadership.  Either the applicant or a parent of the applicant should have volunteer or employment experience in community service.  This scholarship is only available to citizens of the United States.

Requirements for Application: Essay composition, application, financial need assessment, photo, personal references, interview, test scores, and school transcript.  Deadline: Varies.
